`We are conducting normal patrols on the part of Chinese territory bordering the Line of Actual Control (LAC). We call on India to cooperate and avoid any actions that cause complications to create a foundation for developing relations.`

Representatives of the Indian and Chinese military then met and agreed to cool down and avoid escalating tensions.

`China’s position on the border issue is consistent and clear. Chinese border guards have ensured peace and stability along the border. The two sides still maintain diplomatic communication on related issues.`

`Fights occurred at LAC. Patrol forces withdrew after local-level dialogue activities. Short clashes still occurred due to the unresolved border issue. Soldiers from both sides worked together.`

Leaders of the two countries reached an agreement to withdraw troops to ease tensions in August, ending 73 days of confrontation in Doklam.

The Line of Actual Control is the boundary separating territory controlled by India from territory controlled by China after the 1962 border war. However, the two sides have not agreed to delimit the border, leading to rows
