However, the latest data suggests Britain may be recovering from the latest wave of infections.
This weekly number of infections remains high, even worrying for many, but is improving and is the sharpest decline of 2021.

According to ZOE COVID, which collects and analyzes Covid-19 testing data in the UK, the country is now recording around 72,546 daily symptomatic cases, down 18% from 88,592 daily cases last week.

Professor Tim Spector, chief scientist at ZOE COVID, said the data trends were positive, but cautioned that eligible people should get the booster shot, which experts believe is helping to reduce rates.

Spector said that as the UK enters winter, it will see many people suffering from flu, while Covid-19 infection rates remain high, making it difficult for health officials to distinguish symptoms.
For much of the pandemic, Britain was a `dark spot` in Europe and recorded the eighth highest number of deaths in the world with 142,533 cases.
In December 2020, the UK became one of the first countries to approve and deploy the Covid-19 vaccine.
However, while the daily infection rate in the UK is falling, its European neighbors are seeing similar increases in previous weeks.
The Dutch government is also under pressure to issue more drastic restrictions to limit the rising number of Covid-19 cases.
In Italy and Spain, infections also began to increase but at a lower level.
