Malaysia has deployed one plane, two helicopters and four ships to carry out search and rescue missions in the country’s eastern waters and in the South China Sea.

At Beijing airport, a sign announced that family members and friends of passengers on the Malaysia Airlines plane had gathered at a hotel 15 km away to wait for more information.

China has the highest number of citizens on board the missing plane with 154 people, including an infant and a Taiwanese person.

The medical team was dispatched to the above hotel to assist in case of need.
